Awale Enterprises Limited has built a stellar reputation over the years offering the most efficient cargo transportation services. Governmental agencies, local and international Non-Governmental Organisations and companies of all sizes have over the years relied on us for transport from the Port of Mombasa to everywhere in East Africa and beyond.
Containerised Cargo
A big percentage of imports and exports is packed in containers - either 20ft or 40ft in length. Other than having an extensive fleet of flatbed and skeleton trailer units, we have the requisite business knowledge and regional government regulations to carry out transportation of containerised goods efficiently.
From the point of container loading to consignee location, we offer value added services that are comparable to the best practices in the world. Where necessary and especially when it comes to partial container load cargo, we offer our time-tested knowledge on best packing practices to ensure cargo, crew and truck safety. Our clients can rest easy with the assurance that their containers will be delivered to the destination safely, on time and at very competitive rates.
Loose Cargo
Loose cargo is cargo whose shape or dimensions cannot be practically packed into a six sided container. Earth moving machinery fall under this category. Others include metal bars, coils and sheets. Transportation for this kind of cargo calls for stringent safety and security measures, from point of loading to destination.
To satisfy the specialized handling demands for loose cargo, we have an adequate and fast-growing fleet of flatbeds, closed body trailers and low-loaders assigned to the best drivers.

Organizational Capacity
Overview
The company owns 166 modern and well maintained trucks. These include flatbeds, skeletals,high-sided, closed body, low-loaders of different capacities and tippers. We have been able to satisfy varied contracts across the East African Region
The company is managed by two duty directors with one designated as the Managing Director and the other tasked with overseeing operations, marketing and finance matters. The operations department has thirty (57) members of staff undertaking various duties including administration, coordination, clerical work, customer care, accounting and marketing.
To keep our trucks in excellent mechanical condition, we have invested in a modern maintenance workshop equipped with all the requisite equipment. The workshop is run by twenty (39) qualified and experienced mechanics with various specializations including mechanical, electrical and electronics work. br
Our fleet is operated by a well vetted crew of 189 drivers. We undertake regular training and continuous assessments of our drivers to ensure that they are always well versed in road safety, government regulations, truck & cargo stewardship and general discipline..
Additionally, we have employed over 90 support staff ranging from security guards, cargo loaders, merchants and general yard attendants

Operations Department
The Awale Enterprises operations department is concerned with coordinating all the activities that entail our engagement with clients on any particular project. In essence this department is the glue that binds all the other departments into a cohesive unit, working together towards the common goal of total client satisfaction.
Operations Manager
The Operations manager acts as the departmental head. He/she is tasked with ensuring that there is proper coordination, punctual action and accurate correspondence between the company and clients on loading, dispatch and delivery. She is works very closely with the Transport manager in managing cargo delivery logistics.
Human Resource Manager

Workshop Manager
The workshop manager is ideally the head mechanic. His main responsibility is to ensure that our trucks and trailers are in their best mechanical form, guaranteeing reliability and performing truck safety audits and inspections. Working under him is a dynamic team of experts ranging whose competencies range from mechanical to electrical and everything in between
Drivers
Our fleet is assigned to drivers who are only hired after a very rigorous testing and vetting process. The safety and security of our client's cargo is paramount to us. Punctuality is one of our key performance indicators. Drivers, being the people tasked with the safe and punctual delivery of our customers' consignments play a pivotal role in our customer satisfaction effort
Our drivers undergo constant performance monitoring, refresher and skills reinforcement courses, safety drills and simulated defensive driving exercises to maintain the highest levels of aptitude. This is in addition to the mandatory professional and ethical induction initiatives at the time of employment.
Loading Clerks
Our loading clerks are the liaison officers at the point of loading. They assist on gathering necessary documentation and act as field officers on the ground to coordinate loading with the operations manager. Our loading clerks are well trained on all logistics appertaining to road freight and are an invaluable resource in ensuring that we offer the best customer experience.
Accounts Department
The financial aspects of our company falls on the shoulders of our well-staffed accounts department. Among other related responsibilities, the accounts department makes quotations, raises invoices, processes payroll and generally ensures the company's liquidity.
This department is headed by the chief accountant. Reporting to the managing director, the chief accountant is tasked with coordinating and providing leadership on all matters finance. Working under him is a team of academically qualified and experienced accountants and a cashier. Together, they work in close collaboration with the operations and transport departments to ensure that the all financial aspects of our operations are handled in the most professional and courteous manner, measuring up to the best international practices and applicable government regulations.
Our Fleet

Awale Enterprises operates a comprehensive and modern fleet of trucks and various types of trailers. Our fleet consists of over 100 units including prime movers, tippers and assorted trailers. All vehicles and equipment are on a strict and thorough maintenance schedule carried out in-house by our workshop staff to ensure best mechanical condition, adherence to stipulated government standards.
Our clients can at all times be sure that we will be at hand with the appropriate truck and trailer for any given assignment. We only operate Mercedes Benz Actross and Scania trucks which are renown for strength, stability and longevity.
Prime movers
Comprising of Mercedes Actross and Scania units, our fleet of prime movers are the backbone of our operations
Flat bed Trailers
Flatbeds specialty is carrying non-containerised goods, especially abnormal/awkward loads like machinery, pipes, plant/factory components, etc
Skeletal Trailers
Our skeletal trailers are primarily assigned containerised cargo and can either be loaded with 1x40ft or 2x20ft containers.
Low loaders
or especially heavy and long cargo exceeding 40ft, we have invested in capable low loader trailers to ensure we remain a one-stop shop for all our clients' transportation needs.
Tank Trucks
These are exclusively used to transport petroleum products. They are assigned to our best, most experienced drivers who also bear special qualifications and licences that are necessary for the safe delivery of petroleum products.
Tippers
For loads like aggregate, clinker, crushed rock, soil, non-packed fertilizer, grain and similar consignments.
Closed body Trucks
Closed body trucks are best suited for transporting loose cargo like non containerised food stuffs, goods packed in cartons and similar consignments.
High sided trucks
High sided trailers are versatile in that they can be used to transport a variety of cargo types including containerised, grain, aggregate, metal bars, rods, etc.
Support Amenities
Operations Office
We are headquartered in Mazeras area - about 15 minutes drive from the port of Mombasa. This proximity to the port comes in handy when it comes to coordination of loading between our clerks and the operations department. It is also convenient for our customers who may need to physically visit us to iron out details of an contract
Yard
Each of the staffers is assigned to a modern workstation connected to high speed, dedicated fiber internet connection for inter-departmental communication as well as communication with clients and other stakeholders. Select workstations are installed with custom-made software that we use internally to log, track and keep record of deliveries.
In addition to our headquarters, we also regional offices in Kampala - Uganda and Juba - South Sudan.
Maintenance Workshop
To ensure that our trucks are well-maintained and in top form, we have invested in a modern, well equipped, sufficiently staffed repairs and service workshop. All mechanical, electrical or gassing works for our fleet is done in-house by our qualified team of mechanics.

Cargo Safety

Indeed, regardless of the cargo, we have in place policies and safety checklists that are zealously enforced by the management to eliminate the risk of breakages, weather damage, spillages or pilferage.

We endeavour at all times to operate our business within the laid out government regulations and laws. We have all the required licences, permits and endorsements to do the road transport business locally and in the region. For instance, all our trucks are fitted with Electronic Cargo Tracking System (ECTS) at the loading point for every trip. The scheduled government fleet inspections are dutifully observed so as to ensure that each and every one of our trucks are ready and compliant for assignment at all times.

With our footprint spread across the region, Awale Enterprises is well placed to be the preeminent trucker of transit cargo. In addition to our head office and main yard in Mombasa, we have set up regional operations offices in Nairobi, Kampala - Uganda, and Juba - South Sudan. These offices act as coordination centers for our operations in their respective countries as well as liaison points for our clients across the region.
